About Me
Based at the Jersey Shore, I am a freelance health writer, editor and communications/marketing strategist with more than 30 years of experience. My passion for health was first inspired by my 10th grade biology teacher, and I’ve applied that interest to my journey ever since - from earning a degree in biology at Villanova University to serving hospitals, healthcare organizations, nonprofits and agencies in my present role.
Here are a few of my earlier stops along the way:
- Served as the sole onsite marketing manager for Hackensack Meridian Health's Jersey Shore University Medical Center, a teaching hospital housing cardiac surgery and a trauma center
- Managed publications and website strategy for Somerset Medical Center (now RWJUH Somerset), coordinating a website upgrade that earned eight industry awards
- Witnessed the lifesaving impact of organ donation while managing professional membership activities for physicians, nurses, social workers and dietitians at the National Kidney Foundation
- Rubbed elbows with New York City mayors, hospital CEOs and leading physicians at The New York Academy of Medicine, while facilitating communications directly for the president
- Served as a ghost writer for a world-renowned pediatric endocrinologist at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center (now NewYork-Presbyterian)
- Started my health writing and PR career at the medical division of Edelman when it was based in Times Square, a far cry from my small-town origins in upstate New York
